Chloé by Stella McCartney Spring/Summer 2001 Silk Bias-Cut Slip Dress and Fringed Shawl in Lavender Floral Print
An exceptional early-2000s find from Stella McCartney’s tenure at Chloé: this Spring/Summer 2001 silk dress and matching fringed shawl come in a soft lavender-grey floral print with ivory rose motifs, accented throughout with delicate hand-applied beading and crystal embellishment. This exact print was famously worn by Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, cementing its place as one of the most coveted looks from this collection.
The dress is cut on the bias in a fluid, slip-dress silhouette that skims and falls beautifully over the body, with a scooped V-neckline, cap sleeves with beaded detailing at the shoulders, and a handkerchief-style asymmetric hem that dips longer at the back. Seamed panels break up the floral placement across the bodice and skirt, while scattered beading and crystals catch the light at the bust, hip, and hem. The accompanying shawl is oversized and dramatic, finished with long silk fringe at both ends and worked in the same painterly ombré floral silk as the dress.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition.
Size: Marked 42 (French). The silk has more weight than a typical slip and drapes with structure while still moving beautifully with the body.
Measurements (flat, approximate): Bust: 16”, Waist: 14.5”, Hips: 20”.
A rare, museum-worthy pairing from one of Stella McCartney’s most romantic collections for Chloé — beautiful as a two-piece or with the shawl styled separately as a statement wrap.
